Think It – Do It Mindset

Think It – Do It Mindset

The Think it – Do It Mindset  is all about turning our intentions into actions – what is fascinating though is the gap in between thinking and actually doing or not doing in many cases highlights to us what is really going on for us underneath.

So when we have an idea of something we want to do, for example a particular task, a goal, a new idea – it’s all about taking practical steps towards achieving it so we are moving from intention to action.

Taking time to notice our thoughts and how often we think but do not take action is really interesting – so questioning this can be really positive.

When we do not take action – a powerful question we can be asking ourselves is:-

Why am I not doing it?

Could it be the task or goal is too overwhelming and we don’t know where to start?

A fear of failure – what if I am not good enough?

A fear of sucess – what if achieving this changes my life?

Lack of motivation

Lack of self belief/limiting beliefs

Wanting to be a perfectionist

Avoiding feeling any anxiety

Worried what people may think

Lack of confidence in our actions

A few tips to help you are as follows:-

Start with Micro Steps – break the idea down and start with small steps to get you moving – write them down step by step.

Give yourself a small amount of time to start working on your idea and then this takes away the overwhelm of it being a massive task.

Catch yourself in the loop if you keep thinking but not doing  – you can say to yourself “I have thought about this enough now so take some action – you will feel better for it”

We can question ourselves – what is stopping us – once we name it, then it helps us work with it.

Allowing ourselves as well to do things imperfectly is also great – just beginning is a great start.

Congratulate yourself for starting.

Once we notice that we are avoiding a certain task or action we can then try to work through why we are not acting on our thoughts.

Often we do also work better with others in a group which can help us get started on a task and often we do need to seek extra support to help us to understand ourselves more.  Seeking support is always a great idea – we are all different and we all work differently and thats ok of course.

Here are my 6 Steps to action – of course – I’m always available to chat further to help you to move forward if you need.

What do I want?

What is stopping me?

Why am I not doing it?   (so what do i get by not doing it)

What is the smallest possible step?

Do It and take the step quickly so that you do not have time to talk yourself out of it

How do you feel now?

Think it – Do it – is helping us to recognise any barriers that are standing in our way and then working through these step by step.

Think about something you have been putting off – you maybe surprised by what happens when you stop waiting and simply begin.
